Road Trip To Sela Lake – Paradise of Arunachal

I am not a mountain person but now since I am here it feels like home. Away from the hustle bustle of the city life, these mountains have so much of serenity to offer. Few days back, me and some of my friends decided to explore the beauty of Arunachal and despite of the chilly breezes, we were adamant to visit Sela Lake.

Sela Pass is at a height of 13700 feet and happens to be one of the important routes to reach Tawang (is famous for Tawang Monastery) if you are coming from Guwahati.

I must admit the view was a treat to our eyes. The lake is spectacular, mesmerizing, amazing and oh my god, I am short with the right word. Seriously folks, adjectives would fail to define the true beauty of this lake. Usually covered with snow, the lake has heavenly views all around. The lake gets partially frozen during winters and during summers the lake decides to impress everyone with its turquoise beauty.

I was visiting this place for the second time now and was pretty impressed with the soothing beauty all around. The prayer flags tied near the lake looked beautiful and was transmitting positive vibes. I am not exaggerating but the moment I stepped down there, I felt like my tensions got melted away. I wonder now how much beauty Mother Nature has kept for us? It won’t be wrong to say that I was on cloud heaven and so are my friends as we had a great time bonding together at such an alluring place. We clicked tons of selfies, probably have enough pics by now that can turn to be a 500 likes DP  but this didn’t stop us to capture the Kodak moments in our smartphones and DSLRs. The picturesque is not to be missed for and I would say it’s a perfect place to get your pre wedding shoot done here.

I could have spent hours and hours sitting on the rock right next to the misty grass; unfortunately the weather turned out to be icy cold due to the sudden rain showers. We ran towards the nearest tea stall with umbrella on one hand and our bags on the other. Allas! It took us good 20 minutes to reach back to the stall as you really can’t walk fast in high altitude area. Thank God that Nestle got a clean chit and our favorite Maggi was back in market. Seven of us missed no chance to hog the lip smacking Maggi and sipping the smoking hot tea.

A must to visit place for the bikers.

Nothing can wrong here if you are visiting this place with your lady love. Must to add place for the love birds.

In fact anyone and from any age group can visit this place and trust me its worthy.

Time to click some group pic!!!

How to reach:

If you are a group of people then private cabs (scorpio, bolero etc) is recommended which one can book from Guwahati and can be taken till Tawang.

Alternatively, you can choose shared cabs or can travel on your own car too. However, the road condition is not too good hence experienced driver is highly recommended.

Now since I have already got lucky to visit Arunachal, I often say this to my friends and family that if you are one of them who believes ‘heaven on earth’ only means Kashmir, you haven’t visited Arunachal Pradesh’s Se La Lake yet. This lake is also popularly known as Paradise Lake for its charming beauty and trust me it has its own way to impress you. Once visited, you would want to come here often as its love works like a magnetic band that pulls you close to this attractive beauty.
